I’ve been running this website since September 2015, and it’s been a real labour of love. In that time I’ve shared at least a post a week about Anne Brontë and her family, sometimes more. We’ve looked at Brontë related news from around the world, new discoveries in the Brontë sphere, fascinating and tragic events in the Brontë family lives, and taken deep dives into their poetry and novels, and the lives they led. In more than 11 years of running this blog I’ve created over 650 posts adding up to almost a million words, posts that have received millions of views across the world and helped spread the word about those fantastic Brontë sisters.
Some of you, I know, will have followed this blog since the start, and some will have recently found it – thank you to you all, I couldn’t have done it without you, and I’ve often been touched by your support, your kind words, and your passion for all things Brontë. Let me say right now that this website isn’t going anywhere, and deo volente (a phrase much used by Charlotte Brontë in her letters) I will still be publishing weekly Brontë posts in another 11 years time: there’s always new things to say and learn about the Brontës.

Nothing worthwhile can stand still forever, however, and so it’s time for a website refresh. I made a vow when launching my site that I would never have advertising on it – I didn’t know then how much it would grow, but I stick to that vow. In recent years, however, the cost of running and maintaining this website has gone up and up. The latest annual renewal price for the site is well into three figures, and it’s a cost I can no longer afford to sustain without any help. That’s why I’m introducing a new, and entirely optional, subscription for this website – and paying subscribers will receive even more Brontë content, as well as other benefits.
Don’t worry, this Brontë site will carry on exactly as it is now for everyone to access free of charge, and I will still upload weekly blog posts (usually on Sundays). I will also be providing all these extra benefits, however, to paid subscribers (or as I prefer to call you, supporters):
- A weekly Brontë News newsletter, detailing a Brontë related fact or anniversary for every day in the week ahead. These will be sent every Thursday commencing 5th March 2026.
- Free access to an annual Brontë Zoom talk given by me, Nick Holland.
- An exclusive invite to an annual in person Brontë meet-up in a Brontë related location.
- A free PDF of one of my Brontë books of your choice (or if you prefer, my Guy Fawkes biography). These will be sent to subscribers after three consecutive monthly subscriptions have been collected.
- Your name added to a list of supporters included in my forthcoming biography of Charlotte Brontë and Ellen Nussey – out in 2027.
- The benefit of knowing that you are helping sustain this website (and gaining my very real gratitude).
I want to keep subscription costs as low as possible for supporters of this site, so I’m offering the annebronte.org subscription for just £5 a month. You can subscribe securely via PayPal or card using the button below. For subscriber terms and conditions and privacy policy see here.

Happy to help support this wonderful blog…your entries have brought so much joy over the years. It’s nice to see something inspiring on the internet, instead of the usual doom and gloom. I was just reading an email exchange we had back in 2019 and felt touched by your dedication to all things Brontë. Cheers to many more years, and thank you for all that you do!
Thank you Eric!
